1 - Welcome to Tomorrowland  04:11   Since 1955, Tomorrowland had always striven to be a realm of the factual. Walt Disney wanted it to be an accurate prediction of the future and a world of wondrous new ideas. After its third major renovation in 1998, there would be more of an emphasis on science fiction and future fantasy, becoming a timeless world of visionaries past to present.

2 - Tomorrowland Theme - The New Tomorrowland  05:04   The signs of big changes to come began in mid 1995, when the PeopleMover ended its daily operations, the Circle-Vision theater temporarily closed for a special limited time engagement, and construction walls began to emerge throughout Tomorrowland. It was soon announced that a brand new Tomorrowland would be opening in 1998.

3 - Tomorrowland Montage - A Day at The Happiest Place on Earth  03:22   In the 1990's, this souvenir VHS was sold throughout the park, offering a video diary of a typical day at Disneyland. The Tomorrowland segment featured Goofy riding a sports car along the Autopia highways as monorail trains soared overhead, nearby submarines dived deep beneath the ocean's depths and rockets blasted off for Space Mountain.

4 - Disney Gallery: Looking Back at Tomorrow Exhibit  40:15   At the Disney Gallery in New Orleans Square, a special exhibit put the spotlight on Tomorrowland, past, present and future. On display were blueprints, concept renderings and detailed models for many of Tomorrowland's attractions of the past, both realized and unrealized. Retro ambiance audio set the mood for a real flashback to the future.

5 - Disney Gallery: New Tomorrowland Exhibit  2:30:57   Within the largest display room at the Disney Gallery in New Orleans Square, a series of colorful concept renderings and detailed models provided Disneyland guests with a sneak preview of the many exciting attractions planned for an all-new land of the future, currently under construction on the other side of the park, and slated to open in 1998.

6 - Imagineer That! - A New Tomorrow  01:26   The new 1998 Tomorrowland would feature many exciting new experiences, including attractions previously featured in other Disney parks, as well as all-new attractions premiering exclusively in Disneyland. Behind the scenes promotions were featured on the Disney Channel to generate buzz and excitement for this soon to be updated land.

7 - The New Tomorrowland - Press Preview  03:09   Tomorrowland '98 would be hailed as the "All-New Tomorrowland." With the losses incurred during the opening of Euro Disneyland, the original refurbishment budget was slashed, and many ideas had to be scaled down considerably, but Imagineering legend Tony Baxter, in his brilliance, did the most he could with the limited resources he had.

8 - Tomorrowland 1998 - Reopening and Dedication Ceremony  03:28   The grand reopening ceremonies of Tomorrowland took place on May 22nd 1998. On hand were Mickey and his cartoon cohorts, as well as Disneyland Resort president Paul Pressler. He rededicated the land by redelivering Walt Disney's original Tomorrowland dedication from 1955, welcoming guests once more to a world of wondrous new ideas.

- Tomorrowland Area Music -   It wasn't until more recently that Tomorrowland by and large had its own area music. In the 1980's this began to change. Little by little, selected areas began to implement music to set a futuristic mood. Today one can hear music throughout the entire land. In other Disney parks around the world, their futuristic lands centered around music from their very inception, and much of this music would return to Disneyland as time progressed.

15 - Space Mountain TV  16:25   After its major refurbishment in 1996, Fed Ex presented a new preshow experience known as Space Mountain, or SMTV. On multiple TV monitors lined up and down the indoor queue, guests viewed an out of this world television broadcast that took place in the far off future. A line of Celebrity hosts kept the puns and corny one-liners coming.

16 - Space Mountain 1996 - Safety Announcements  02:09   Throughout the Space Mountain queue, and once they prepare for immediate blastoff, passengers are repeatedly forewarned that this high-speed rocket ship adventure is no Peter Pan's Flight. Those who suffer from motion sickness, back problems or heart conditions should not ride, and your seat belt must always remain tightly fastened.

17 - Space Mountain 1996  02:46   Soon after a new binaural audio technology was successfully implemented at the Disneyland Paris version of Space Mountain, in 1996 each rocket of the original Space Mountain was fitted with an on board sound system. This provided synchronized sound effects and music, adding a new level of dramatic excitement to the 'E' ticket favorite.

18 - The Observatron  06:07   When the spinning Rocket Jets were remodeled and relocated from the second level PeopleMover station platform to the main entrance of Tomorrowland, a new kinetic Tomorrowland centerpiece was put in its place. Every quarter hour the Observatron came to life through motion and music, looking for possible life on planets far, far away.

19 - Astro Orbiter Announcements  01:45   At the entrance to the new Tomorrowland was a spinning rocket attraction not unlike the Rocket Jets that had once been positioned atop the People Mover loading platform. This new ground level version was a duplicate of the Disneyland Paris spinner. Load and unload announcements were provided by the legendary voice actor Peter Reneday.

20 - American Space Experience: Celebrating 40 Years of NASA  03:57   Off the north side pathway into Tomorrowland was an exhibit showcasing many of the marvelous past discoveries and future conquests of the NASA space program featuring a series of prototype models and educational displays. Here guests could see an authentic space suit, touch an actual moon rock or test their weight on the planet Jupiter.

21 - American Space Experience: Mission to Mars  03:12   A special exhibit at the American Space Experience focused on NASA's next big mission of discovery, and the early research that had already begun for our eventual journey to the planet Mars. It featured a scale model of the spacecraft Pathfinder, and a working model of the 6-wheeled robotic rover Sojourner, which had landed on Mars in 1997.

22 - Disneyland Forever - Make Your Own CD - Tomorrowland  07:55   A state-of-the-art music making technology that foretold the arrival of Itunes and on-line music downloading was a popular feature of the new Tomorrowland. At the "Disneyland Forever" kiosks guests could create their very own, instant, personalized souvenir CDs, with selections chosen from a vast library of rare Disneyland audio recordings.

23 - Push the Talking Trash Can  00:39   From the early 2000's until 2014, Push the talking trash can would mix and mingle with astounded guests near the Tomorrowland entrance. What appeared to be a roving and rather communicative waste receptacle was actually radio controlled and voiced by a nearby bystander, hidden within the crowd, who would go seemingly unnoticed.

24 - Trash Can Trio  04:03   This was one of the most unusual entertainment offerings ever presented in Disneyland. Disguised as park custodians, a trio of talented percussionists would roll out metal trash barrels into the center of Tomorrowland. Then to the surprise and delight of guests, they would begin beating the barrels like drums for an impromptu live performance.

25 - Magic Kingdom Korps  1:02:12   Magic Kingdom Korps was a band of musicians featured in the Tomorrowland area upon its 1998 refurbishment. The talented group was made up entirely of brass players and percussionists who performed high energy instrumental music in a patriotic drum and bugle corps style. Each performer donned a futuristic looking turquoise uniform.

26 - Redd Rocket's Pizza Port - The Moonliner  02:56   The decades long home of the original Disneyland space flight adventures, "Flight to the Moon" and later, "Mission to Mars, was converted into a fast food pizzeria in 1998, for the new Tomorrowland remodel. In homage to the original attraction, a replica of the original TWA moonliner rocket was positioned near the restaurant's entrance.

27 - Honey I Shrunk the Audience Preshow  12:40   Disneyland's Magic Eye Theater was renamed the Imagination Institute when the new, "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience," 3-D adventure debuted with the new Tomorrowland in 1998. This Florida original first began entertaining Epcot visitors in Walt Disney World back in 1994, before it was imported to Disneyland as a replacement for Captain EO.

28 - Honey, I Shrunk the Audience  17:06   In 1998, a new 3-D film adventure premiered in Tomorrowland, based on the hit Disney comedy franchise featuring Rick Moranis as the eccentric inventor Dr. Wayne Zalinski. In synchronization with the film, the entire auditorium vibrated. Combined with visual effects and binaural sounds the entire audience experienced the sensation of shrinking.

29 - Honey, I Shrunk the Audience Musical Score  07:55   Music played a key role in the fun and adventure of, "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience." At the Imagination Institute, famed inventor Wayne Zalinski was being presented with the "Inventor of the Year Award," and after much hoopla and musical fanfare, through a series of mishaps the eager scientist accidentally miniaturized the entire audience.

- The Rocket Rods -   Rocket Rods were launched as part of the new Tomorrowland of 1998. These vehicles utilized the same elevated track originally traversed by the PeopleMover, but unlike it predecessor, this was a high-speed race through Tomorrowland. Although the few who did have the opportunity to experience the new attraction praised it highly, it proved to be a maintenance juggernaut, permanently closing after less than a year of operation.

- Innoventions -   In 1998, the building that had long been the carousel theater became an interactive exhibit space called Innoventions. As guests first entered the building they were greeted by a friendly robot named Tom Morrow, who introduced innovative new products in the areas of transportation, entertainment, sports, education and housewares. Guests then could explore two stories of ever-changing corporate sponsored display areas.

An informative guide demonstrated the home's many innovative products during a fascinating walk through tour. Sound familiar? This hearkened back to the original House of the Future located in Tomorrowland from 1957-1967.

A phone outside of Innoventions played comical messages recounting Adventure Through Inner Space.

63 - Radio Disney - Broadcast Booth  21:12   A new feature of 1998 Tomorrowland was the Radio Disney sound booth located at the base of the Rocket Rods loading platform where the former "Lunching Pad," snack bar had once been located. From here, Disney's nationally syndicated radio network aimed at young listeners, broadcasted live programing directly from Disneyland.

- Autopia -   Autopia is Tomorrowland's only remaining opening day attraction. In 2000, Chevron took over as sponsors of the classic motoring adventure. At this point the individual Fantasyland and Tomorrowland tracks were combined into a single extended layout, nearly doubling the ride time. Honda became the new sponsor in 2016, and newly designed cars now view several scenes featuring robot friends ASIMO and Bird.

Those with health conditions are warned not to ride.

70 - Space Mountain 2005  03:18   After an extensive multi-year refurbishment beginning in 2003, Space Mountain reopened in 2005. The entire track was dismantled and completely rebuilt from the ground up, using the exact same layout of the 1977 original. The sleeker and smoother ride added a new level of excitement to this white knuckle race through the cosmos.

71 - Space Mountain 2005 - Exit Corridor Area Background Music  05:52   An updated variant of the ride-along soundtrack was implemented upon the 2005 refurbishment of Space Mountain, composed by the award winning Michael Giacchino. The new audio was initially created for the Space Mountain designed for the new Hong Kong Disneyland, with its track that is an exact duplication of the California classic.

72 - Rockin' Space Mountain  02:41   In 2007, Space Mountain was temporarily transformed into a new one-of-a-kind rock concert experience. The normal Space Mountain effects were replaced with stadium strobe lighting, and a special soundtrack was performed by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The seasonal overlay was a one time event, and did not return the following year.

73 - Space Mountain - Ghost Galaxy  02:58   In 2007, Space Mountain in Hong Kong Disneyland received a Halloween make-over. Through special lighting, music and projections, the attraction was transformed into a frightening new adventure featuring a menacing extra-terrestrial phantom. The same experience premiered in California in 2009, and has returned each year for Halloween.

74 - Mickey's Star Trader - Area Background Music  1:08:50   Mickey's Star Trader is located at the exit to Star Tours; therefore a good portion of the store is devoted to Star Wars merchandise. The atmosphere music often heard here is by Moog synthesizer pioneers Jean-Jacques Perry and Gershon Kingsley, the very same collaborators behind the iconic theme music from the Main Street Electrical Parade.

75 - The StarCade - Arcade Games  06:08   What land of the future would be complete without a video arcade? The StarCade in Tomorrowland first opened in 1977, right on the heels of the video game revolution of the early 1980's. As it evolved, it featured the very latest in console video games, but for the less technologically savvy, one could always find air hockey and pinball machines.

- Toy Story in Tomorrowland -   Since the theatrical debut of the original "Toy Story," this film franchise has had a close association with Tomorrowland. In 1995 the StarCade area was transformed into a Toy Story Funhouse, and a temporary outdoor stage presented two Toy Story themed live shows throughout the day. Then in 1999, "Toy Story 2" came to Tomorrowland Terrace in a new show featuring Buzz Lightyear, Emperor Zurg and the little green aliens.

Junior space cadets board a space cruiser armed with astro-blasting canons, and aim at animated targets representing the robot army of the evil emperor Zurg. Points are tabulated at the conclusion of the ride and each passenger is assigned a squadron rank.

After more than sixty years, the iconic Disneyland Monorail System retains its standing as a true innovation in transportation.

- Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage -   Disneyland's classic deep-sea submarine adventure received a modern makeover in 2007, resurfacing as the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. The updated attraction utilizes stunning underwater digital projections, bringing to life many of the colorful underwater characters from the Disney/Pixar animated feature "Finding Nemo." The music from the animated feature was adapted for Disneyland's submarine adventure.

91 - Jedi Training Academy - Young Jedi Recruitment  17:12   Beginning in 2007, a new interactive experience for Disneyland's younger guests was presented several times a day at the Tomorrowland Terrace. Before each training session was about to commence, approximately 16 children were selected to participate as Jedi trainees. Each young recruit was then presented with Jedi robes and lightsabers.

92 - Jedi Training Academy  13:19   As the Jedi Training Academy demonstration began, the young recruits were given lessons in the ways of the force and the basics in lightsaber combat skills, before Darth Vader, Darth Maul and the Stormtroopers interrupted the exercises. After the children helped fend off these intergalactic saboteurs they each became honorary Jedi knights.

- Marvel Studios in Tomorrowland -   Beginning in 2013, the second level of Innoventions became the Tomorrowland Expo Center featuring a special Iron Man Tech exhibit. In the years to follow other Marvel superheroes would be featured in Innoventions, and many of Tomorrowland's other venues were used to promote the latest releases from Marvel Studios, including meet and greets at StarCade and extended movie previews at the Tomorrowland Theater.

103 - StarCade - Tomorrowland Movie Exhibit: The Optimist Album  17:16   In 2015, StarCade featured a limited time exhibit promoting the theatrical release of "Tomorrowland." The exhibit also hearkened back to an innovative 2013 viral marketing campaign known as "The Optimist." This world building social media game targeted the Disney parks fan base in order to generate enthusiasm for the film then in production.

104 - Tomorrowland Theater - Tomorrowland Preview  08:05   For a limited time In 2015, the Tomorrowland Theater showcased an extended preview of the new Walt Disney Pictures theatrical release, "Tomorrowland." This science fiction fantasy adventure was a love letter to the many optimistic visionaries of the mid 20th century, including Walt Disney, who dreamed of a great big beautiful tomorrow.

105 - Tomorrowland (2015) Motion-Picture Soundtrack  00:00   After years of viral marketing, and buzz among the Disney fan community, the highly anticipated "Tomorrowland" motion-picture finally premiered in the late spring of 2015. This sci-fi adventure follows a young girl who discovers a miraculous amulet, which instantly transports her into a utopian city of the future within an alternate dimension. ---------- COMING SOON ----------

- Star Tours: The Adventures Continue -   After continuous flights to Endor for over 24 years, a fully updated version of Star Tours would blast off in 2011. Now the simulator technology first developed in 1987 would finally live up to its full potential with the launch of Star Tours 2.0. New randomized destinations and multiple story lines became part of the experience just as George Lucas had envisioned when the attraction was originally developed in the 1980's.

Some of the well-known settings from the Star Wars universe have also been replicated, including the infamous Cantina bar.

121 - Stormtrooper Guest Interactions  06:48   With the launch of Star Tours 2.0, a new interactive guest experience was added to the surrounding area. Guest waiting in line for Star Tours, or perusing the Tomorrowland, vicinity may have an unexpected encounter with the stormtroopers of the Imperial guard, who give out stern commands and exchange insults with bewildered onlookers.

122 - Tomorrowland Theater - Path of the Jedi  10:36   Tomorrowland's indoor theater, former venue for such 3-D attractions as "Captain EO" and "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience," presented a special compilation of scenes from the Star Wars franchise as part of Season of the Force. The film showcased memorable moments from each episode in order to explore the mystical force of the Jedi knights.

123 - Hyperspace Mountain  02:42   Season of the Force included a new Space Mountain overlay utilizing indoor projection mapping of classic Star Wars scenes set to the music of John Williams. Over the years, the famed indoor coaster has had two other overlays, Rockin' Space Mountain and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, but this has proved to be the most popular overlay to date.

124 - Hyperspace Mountain - Musical Score  01:55   Utilizing the projection infrastructure first used in the Halloween-themed Ghost Galaxy attraction overlay, laser lighting effects, and a newly recorded score performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, Hyperspace Mountain puts guests right int he middle of an exciting space battle between Imperial X-wing starfighters and Rebel TIE fighters.

125 - March of the First Order  11:23   On May the 4th, 2018, a popular Star Wars themed presentation began performances several times daily in Tomorrowland after its debut during the Disneyland After Dark, Star Wars Nite event. Captain Phasma and her menacing band of Stormtroopers emerge from the Star Wars Launch Bay and march throughout the Tomorrowland area.

- Tomorrowland Terrace -   Dancing at the elevating Tomorrowland Terrace bandstand is a long tradition that continues to this day. Although, musical styles have changed tremendously since this venue first opened in 1967, what has remained unchanged is its function as a showcase for local talent, with a rotating roster of regular performing musical groups, many of whom have gained a following among teen and young adult local guests.

131 - Tomorrowland Theater - Pixar Shorts Festival  15:53   In 2018 a special event was held at the Disneyland Resort. In addition to a special parade, fireworks spectacular, special decorations and resort-wide live entertainment, the Tomorrowland theater presented three innovative Pixar short subject cartoons in 3-D. The lineup included "For the Birds," (2000) "Lava," (2014) and "Piper" (2016).

132 - Toy Story - Alien Pizza Planet  01:47   It was often a point of puzzlement as to why Tomorrowland's pizzeria was not themed to the film, "Toy Story." With its adjacent rocket ship and atomic-age style roof line, it was a dead ringer for the restaurant featured in the 1995 Pixar classic. Finally, in 2018 the establishment received a no-brainer refurbishment, becoming "Alien Pizza Planet."

133 - Disney's Cinematic Music of Tomorrow  1:02:21   Many of the theatrical offerings from Walt Disney Pictures in recent years have been in the realm of sci-fi. This has resulted in a multitude of innovative musical scores. Beyond the Star Wars and Marvel franchises, there have been such offerings as "The Black Hole," "Tron," "The Rocketeer," "Journey to Atlantis," "Wall-E" and many others.
